The 7th Triple Helix conference

The 7th Triple Helix conference on “The role of Triple Helix in the Global Agenda of Innovation, Competitiveness and Sustainability” will be held in Glasgow, Scotland on 17-19 June 2009. Among other issues it plans to address the complex roles of universities in regional and national development as well as the success of the third mission of universities, which are key to the UniDev project. Mid Term Workshop to be held in Vietnam, January 2007

At our meeting in Havana in February it was decided that the Mid Term Workshop will be held in Vietnam. The date for this workshop has been changed to the second part of January next year (instead of the end of November -05, as originally suggested). The meeting will take place during 8-10 days in the end of January (exact date will be decided later). The preliminary agenda looks as follows:

- UniDev workshop in Hanoi (3-4 days) for presentation and discussion on drafts of Third Mission Case Studies,
- Cultural visits in the Danang-Hué area (week end),
- Joint session with the RoKS network in Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon (2-3 days).

UniDev Participation at Globelics India 2006

GLOBELICS (GLOBal network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence-building Systems) organizes a major conference on an annual basis, and the venue for 2006 is set for India. Similar to last year’s event our UniDev Network has been asked to hold a Mini Workshop at the 2006 Globelics Conference, 4-7 October. At the Mini Workshop the final versions of the Country Position Papers will be presented, and we will also organize an internal meeting specifically for the UniDev members. More details and the exact date for our session are to be decided later. 3rd Regional Conference on Innovation Systems and Innovative Clusters in Africa - Stimulating Competitiveness for Sustainable Economic Development -

Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, September 3-7, 2006

The College of Engineering and Technology of the University of Dar es Salaam has once again been given the honor and privilege to organize and host the 3rd Regional Conference on Innovation Systems and Innovative Clusters in Africa. The Sub-theme of the Conference has been chosen to be “Stimulating Competitiveness for Sustainable Economic Development” in response to which 15 Pilot Cluster Initiatives (8 in Tanzania and 7 in Uganda) will present papers on activities undertaken so far and their future plans. The Conference is expected to enable refinement of implementation aspects of the Innovation Systems and Clusters Programme in Eastern Africa (ISCP-EA) and thereby ensure success of the same.

International conference on The Triple Helix Paradigm for Development: Strategies for Cooperation and Exchange of Good Practice.

18-19 of September 2006, Bristol, UK

The focus of this policy-oriented conference will be on the issues and challenges associated with the “triple helix” strategy for promoting innovation and learning societies in developing countries. The conference is a response to the growing awareness about the need for policy shift from the traditional technology transfer practice to a policy position that is capable of providing a sustainable basis for innovation and technological progress in developing countries.

GLOBELICS (GLOBal network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence-building Systems) organises a major conference on an annual basis. The Developing Universities working group has been asked to hold a Mini Workshop at the 2005 Globelics Conference 31 October – 4 November. Seven of the twelve member countries will be represented at the meeting, which will primarily be devoted to identifying a common research methodology and setting a detailed project road map.
