Russian Project Layout

The project activities will be focused on studying the role of the Higher Education sector in the National System of Innovation in Russia, e.g. in comparison with those in developed countries. There will be assessed described major policy initiatives aimed at increasing contribution of Higher Education to the economic and social development, promoting R&D at universities, integration of S&T and education.

National Workshop in Russia

The main topic to be discussed at the Russian National Workshop is the role of the Higher Education sector in the National System of Innovation in Russia in comparison with those in developed countries. National Workshop in China to be held November 30 2005

The Chinese team plans to hold a daylong national workshop November 30 2005. The core issues to be addressed at the meeting the role universities play in the Chinese national system of innovation today, what challenges and opportunities the Chinese education system faces, and how innovation policy can stimulate the university to be more proactive as knowledge-producer, incubator and networker and how it can enforce the linkage and cooperation between universities, research institutes and industry.

UniDev Mini Workshop at the Globelics Conference

UniDev Mini Workshop
Globelics Conference, Pretoria

GLOBELICS (GLOBal network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence-building Systems) organises a major conference on an annual basis. The Developing Universities working group has been asked to hold a Mini Workshop at the 2005 Globelics Conference 31 October – 4 November. Seven of the twelve member countries will be represented at the meeting, which will primarily be devoted to identifying a common research methodology and setting a detailed project road map.

National Workshop in Brazil scheduled for early 2006

The Brazilian team decided to postpone the first National Workshop, which was first schedule for September this year. Instead the Workshop willl be held early 2006. The idea is to have a two-days seminar, where the basic lines of the Brazilian project will be presented and discussed with leading Brazilian researchers as well as with Brazilian authorities from CNPq, CAPES, FINEP, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology.

National Workshop in Uruguay

The UniDev project in Uruguay will be located at the University of the Republic, the only public University in the Country. The intention is to relate the project with an agreement between the University of the Republic and the Planning and Budget of the National Government, to be signed soon. The cooperation between the University and this high rank Government Department will ensure the genuine participation by both parts through out the full project.

The first national workshop will take place during 2006. A more exact date is to be decided at a later stage, when new research results have been gathered and transformed into working documents with the purpose of monitoring and communicating the process to external actors.
